Election Day is here, neighbor!
The Dallas Free Press team will be out in the community covering watch parties, tracking results and making sure you and your neighbors have the information you need to vote with confidence.
When early voting ended on April 29, only 728 people in West Dallas had voted — that’s just 4% of the 17,274 registered voters in the area. This means more than 16,500 residents still have the power to help decide what happens next for their community by casting votes today.
West Dallas is choosing between nine candidates to elect a new District 6 city councilmember to represent neighbors at City Hall. (Councilmember Omar Narvaez is term-limited after being elected to serve four consecutive two-year terms, from 2017 to 2025, and cannot run again.)
The nine candidates, in ballot order, are: David Blewett, Monica R. Alonzo, Gabriel Kissinger, Tony Carrillo, Laura Cadena, Machelle Wells, Nicolas “Nico” Quintanilla, Linus Spiller and Quincher Morgan (write-in).
A portion of West Dallas is choosing between three candidates to elect a new District 5 trustee to represent students, parents and taxpayers on the Dallas ISD school board. Trustee Maxie Johnson is running for City Council District 4, and (in ballot order) Byron K. Sanders, Devon L. Washington and Nitashia Gerald are campaigning to replace him.

⏰ What time can I vote?
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you’re in line by 7 p.m., you have the right to vote.
📍Where do I vote?
You can cast your ballot at any of the 422 polling locations in Dallas County — you don’t have to locate your precinct polling place. There are 7 polling places in West Dallas.
🗳️ How do I know what’s on my ballot?
You can check your sample ballot and verify your voter registration online before you go. You can also compare candidates and learn more about the issues at stake with our Dallas Voter Guide.
🎒 What do I need to bring?
A valid photo ID is required. This can be a Texas driver’s license, state ID, U.S. passport, and a few other options. Voters are allowed to bring written materials, like a printed copy of our West Dallas voter cheatsheet, into voting stations to assist them in casting their ballot. Phones are not allowed.
