Video: City of Dallas seeks public input on future zoning of about 256 acres in West Dallas
West Dallas residents have experienced health issues for decades because of the industrial plants within their community, such as GAF shingles factory.
In 2022 Singleton United/Unidos and other neighbors requested that the City of Dallas rezone about 256 acres of mostly industrial land near their residential homes. Three years later, the authorized hearing process has begun.
On Nov. 18, neighbors gathered for the first public meeting, sharing concerns and hopes for their neighborhood. City planners told them their input will help guide the zoning recommendations so that they align with community values and goals.
The next public hearing is on Jan. 13, 2026, 6–7:30 p.m. at the West Dallas Multipurpose Center.
