South Dallas, tomorrow is our last chance to vote for a new Dallas ISD trustee.
District 9 Trustee Justin Henry announced he wouldn’t run for reelection, and four candidates filed to take his place. Here’s Dallas Free Press’ cheat sheet that profiles what we know about all four.
Here are three more resources to help you make a decision:
- Leadership ISD’s candidate questionnaire and assessment tool
- Dallas Regional Chamber District 9 forum (video)
- League of Women Voters Dallas 2024 Guide (pdf)
The 10 propositions in the City of Dallas $1.25 billion bond package are on the ballot, too. Several voter guides exist, including this one from our friends at D Magazine.
South Dallas voters also can elect a new Dallas College District 7 trustee; here is the Dallas Morning News’ overview.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 4. DART is offering free rides, including GoLink door-to-door. Registered voters (check your status here) can vote at any Dallas County polling location. Bring a valid photo ID.
South Dallas polling locations include:
- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Arts Academy
- St. Paul Baptist Church
- Salem Institutional Baptist Church
- Evangelist Temple Church
- MLK Jr Library
- Lincoln High School
- Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School
