Where to find Dallas Free Press this week: Sept. 23-29
Behind the Story Clarifies for the public how a story was reported.
Good morning! Here’s what the Dallas Free Press team is working on and where we’ll be this week.
Coming soon from Dallas Free Press
Brenda Hernandez will spend time Monday with Bertrand Neighborhood Association’s Delphine Ganious on a walk-through of the neighborhood to find out how residents worked to diminish the amount of vehicles speeding through their streets.
Six weeks into the school year, Brenda is reaching out to South Dallas and West Dallas middle schools to find out whether school chromebooks are proving useful for students and how they are being maintained.
Sujata Dand will follow up on how Trinity Park Conservancy is living up to its promise to help residents with their property taxes as they work to raise money for a new park.
What else do we need to follow-up on? Let us know.
Dallas Documenters at public meetings
Our Dallas Documenters will cover several public meetings this week:
Daniel Estrada will document the Dallas ISD Board meeting on Thursday. Other Documenters will be assigned to Dallas City Council’s Housing and Homelessness Solutions Committee meeting on Monday and Tuesday’s Hampton & Clarendon community meeting, where the City will present proposed zoning recommendations from the West Oak Cliff Area Plan (WOCAP) for the Hampton- Clarendon Corridor.
Civic editor David Silva Ramirez will host a free, virtual training this Wednesday on navigating the City of Dallas website to find public meeting information and video archives. Anyone interested is welcome; sign up here.
Scan our Documenters’ notes from recent public meetings, including the Dallas City Council’s Sept. 5 City Plan Commission and Community Development Commission meetings.
