Dallas Police Chief Daniel Comeaux introduced himself to the Community Police Oversight Board during a June 10 meeting, where he overviewed his resume and said he was willing to have a dialogue with the board.
Comeaux answered general questions, but board members were stopped from asking specific policy questions. Comeaux was named chief in April.
District 14 member Brandon Friedman said he has concerned with DPD’s collaboration with ICE amid a rise in immigration arrests and wanted the chief address this.
City Attorney Daniel Moore said the chief’s presence was only for a general introduction and members couldn’t ask specific policy issues.
After questions from several members, Comeaux said DPD would not collaborate with state and federal agencies if they are breaking the law.
