
Student journalists are part of the Journalism Pathway Fellowship, a program that supports high school students in reporting on their communities. Fellows are based at Dr. L.G. Pinkston Sr. High School in West Dallas and “The Great” James Madison High School in South Dallas. They learn reporting skills and gain real journalism experience covering stories from their campuses.
The Pinkston High School boys soccer team made history by becoming the first Dallas ISD boys team to reach the state semifinals, where they lost to Bridgeport 3-1 and celebrated their season with bronze medals.
Pinkston High School students performed a production of "Annie Jr." to great success, with many of the performers experiencing their first time acting and singing on stage.
The Great James Madison High School has added an art program after a six-year drought, with new art teacher Gregory Atkins teaching graphic design, animation, and traditional art to the students.
Alexa Sanchez, a high school junior, has built a successful nail business from her bedroom, managing up to 40 clients a month and inspiring other teens to pursue their own entrepreneurial dreams.
Chloe Adams is a senior at The Great James Madison High School who balances her roles as an athlete, entrepreneur, and student leader while running a successful hair business and managing four sports.
The City of Dallas, Dallas ISD and DART disagree on how students should access free or "fareless" rides and who should be paid for them.
