How to Become a Dallas Documenter

Dallas Documenters pays and trains Dallas residents to attend and take notes at these public meetings. Those fact-checked notes are then published and shared via newsletter and social media, filling the gap in coverage and creating a new public record of accountability that everyone can use and access. Join the effort and become a Dallas Documenter.Â

Step 1. Create a Documenters.org account
Creating an account requires only your name and email address. By joining our Documenters Network, you’ll have access to reminders for new free trainings, events and paid assignments.

Step 2. Attend an orientation
Register for and attend a virtual or in-person orientation to become a Documenter. Still have questions? Schedule a one-on-one with our Civic Editor to learn more about the program.

Step 3. Take an assignment and document!
Notetaking assignments include City of Dallas, DART and DISD boards and commissions.
